Frequently asked questions
Cost
Counselling Southeast operates a sliding scale when it comes to payment of fees: fees range from €5 to €50 per session. Rates are based on an individual's financial circumstances. OAPs, students and unemployed will benefit from a 50% reduction. No one will be denied access to counselling due to their inability to pay.
Length of sessions
Individual one-to-one counselling sessions last fifty minutes.
Session times
Where possible, session times will be scheduled to suit the client.
Frequency of sessions
Generally sessions are once weekly, but this may vary from individual to individual; this can be discussed during the first session.
Number of sessions required
Some people require more counselling sessions than others. One session may be enough for one person, while another person might require a number of sessions. It is up to each individual, and their personal circumstances. Progress will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.
Cancellations
Appointments should be cancelled by giving 48 hours' notice. Appointments cancelled less than 48 hours in advance will incur a 50% charge of the agreed fee.
I am under 18 years of age. Can I attend counselling?
Individuals under 18 years of age must provide written consent from their parents/guardians to attend counselling. Counselling Southeast has many years experience counselling adolescents and young people.
How do I know the counsellor is fully qualified?
Ask: do not be afraid to ask to see the counsellor's qualifications. Also ask what areas the counsellor has specialised in, and past work experience.
How do I know the counsellor is accredited?
Again, ask. Do not be afraid to ask to see the counsellor's letter or certificate of accreditation. Some counsellors advertise that they are "pre-accredited." In effect what this means is that they are still in training, and working towards full accreditation.
Counselling Southeast is committed to providing a professional counselling service, for a wide range of issues, at reasonable cost.
